Hungary Serbia railway was partially opened, which is a key project jointly built by China and central and Eastern Europe


In China, one belt, one road and one other area, was launched in Serbia on March 19th. The operation of Belgrade to Novi Sad section of Serbia was marked by significant progress in the construction of the "one belt and one road" key project, the Hungary railway.


Hungary Serbia railway connects Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, and Budapest, the capital of Hungary. It is a double track electrified railway with mixed passenger and freight lines. It is the first project for the docking of China's railway technical equipment with the European Union's railway interconnection technical specifications.


Hungary Serbia railway has a total length of 341.7 kilometers, including 183 kilometers in Serbia with a design speed of 200 kilometers per hour, 158.7 kilometers in Hungary with a design speed of 160 kilometers per hour. Hungary Serbia railway includes both new lines and reconstructed lines.

According to the person in charge of the International Department of State Railway Group, the beno section of Hungary Serbia railway opened and operated this time starts from Belgrade station, passes through the old pazova station and ends at Novi Sad station. The total length of the line is about 80km, which is composed of two sections: beno section and jiuno section.


Beijiu section is led by China Railway International Co., Ltd., affiliated to China Railway Group, and forms a Chinese joint venture with China Communications Construction Co., Ltd. to undertake the construction in the mode of general contracting, with China Railway Design Group Co., Ltd. participating in the design. At the same time, the Chinese joint venture subcontracted the communication signal project of Jiunuo section.


The person in charge said that when building this section of railway, the EU certification of Chinese railway standards was completed simultaneously.


After the opening of this section, the maximum running speed of the train will be increased from 40 to 50 kilometers per hour to 200 kilometers, and the running time from Belgrade, the largest city in Serbia, to Novi Sad, the second largest city, will be reduced from 90 minutes to 30 minutes.

According to Xinhua news agency, on November 22 last year, the remaining sections of the Hungarian Serbian railway in Serbia (Novi Sad sobotica border section) have been officially started. On October 15 last year, a foundation laying ceremony was held for the Hungarian section of the Hungarian Cypriot railway.
